This is the biggest sale I have ever seen on the android market. It is to celebrate 10 billion. 10 billion what, I don’t know, though it’s probably a safe guess that Android is coming up on 10 billion application downloads. The promo banner in the Android market read, though: “10 Days of Offers: Top Premium Apps, 10¢ Per App.”

Much in the same tone as my previous (and first) post, I’d like to give you a quick run down of a few of the apps I have on my HP Touchpad. I picked it up during the firesale and planned to put Android on it as soon as it was ready. However, after a few months of using it, I’ve found webOS quite usable and I won’t be switching to Android for another while.

The stock applications on the Touchpad are lacking in functionality (such as a video player – quite an omission on a tablet in my opinion) so it becomes necessary to find useful apps to fill the voids left by HP. While not necessarily the top apps around, but below are some apps that have become so integrated in my life that things would be harder without them.

Springpad

A really clever notebook that’s also completely FREE! It synchronises all your data across all your devices and the cloud. You can make lists, tasks, notes, save pages while you surf, share with social networks and email. You can also use a built in bar code scanner while shopping and look up products online. I don’t know where they make their money because there also does’t seem to be a limit on the amount you can store.
