DIT Debate Society
9th March
I became involved with DIT Debate Society when it was set up in the Autumn of 2011. As well as helping the fledgling society get on its feet, I designed a website for the society using WordPress and a customised premium template.
The site integrates well with social networks like Twitter (see bottom left for the up-to-date Twitter feed from @ditdebatesoc) as well as MailChimp which we use for collecting email addresses for newsletter updates.
Front Page
The slide show focuses the vistors attention on upcoming events that the society is hosting as well as providing a section to sign up for newsletter updates. The logo was a product of a competition held on the society’s Facebook page, the prize of which was €100.

Manor Road Surgery
8th March
Manor Road Surgery, a family practice established over fifty years ago, approached me to make a website for them in the summer of 2011. Using a simple theme and WordPress allowed to create a unique and user-friendly appearance.
All of the photographs on the page were taken and enhanced by me to add a personality to the site, suitable for a family practice rather than using stock photography.
Front Page
The large fonts used on the top menu are easy to find and clear in their contents. The most common enquiries to the site can also be found on the sidebar here. In the footer of every page are the opening times, contact details, and emergency numbers to minimise the amount of navigation that visitor does for the most frequently requested or urgently required information.

Digitising an existing logo

Literary and Debating Society
6th March
The Literary and Debating Society (or Lit’n’Deb as it is better known) is a university society from NUI Galway in Ireland that was founded over 160 years ago. As a member of the committee in 2008, I worked on a digital strategy for the society.
This strategy included better management of existing social networks and archival of digital content from both the past and future. The centre-piece of this project was a Joomla based website that will be an asset to the society’s digital presence for years to come.

Your eyes should be drawn across the list of recent posts and on to the animated slideshow. The site is also designed to be clear and easy to navigate with a well structured menu bar.
